Presentation: A new era of private credit
Speakers: Muzinich & Co
Private credit has been one of the fastest growing segments of the financial markets over the past 15 years. While the total size of the private credit market still remains a small fraction of the broader fixed-income landscape, private financing solutions continue to perform well, against bank and public alternatives. Private credit’s growth to date has been largely concentrated in direct lending, a strategy fueled by the twin tailwinds of banks’ retrenchment from leveraged lending and private equity’s (PE) rapid expansion. But the asset class has begun to expand into new areas, including a wide variety of other corporate lending and asset-based financing structures. Going forward, reliable origination of private credit assets will be key, as the competitive landscape increases, and to this end, a new breed of partnerships and open-architecture business models could emerge as a result.
