Q2 2026 – member update – the new era of purpose – video

Investors for Purpose

Our Q2 member update video reviews our recent transition from Pensions for Purpose to Investors for Purpose: same purpose – broader perspective – better outcomes, reflecting our ambition to work with a more diverse group of investors while to supporting the pensions market. The conversation explores how expanding collaboration to include insurers, foundations, charities and other investment groups can strengthen shared learning and improve the effectiveness of investments.

Other topics covered in the conversation

Pensions
Once in a decade updates to policy and regulation are reshaping the pensions industry, including the pension schemes bill, the close of the 'fit for the future' pooling deadline, a significant overhaul of the local government pension scheme, and consolidation in the DC Master Trust market. These changes have raised questions about the place of fiduciary duty, member representation, and the new citizens’ assembly and deliberative democracy approaches.

Geopolitical conflict
The discussion also raised the effects of armed hostilities on investment decision-making, recognising the human, environmental and financial consequences of global instability. The conversation considered the importance of the energy transition for sustainability goals, and also for resilience and national security, while acknowledging the connection between nature, climate change, inequality and war.

Artificial intelligence
The opportunities and potential risks of artificial intelligence (AI) remained a pivotal discussion point. The update explores how AI could help address social challenges, while also raising concerns about environmental impacts, governance and responsible use.

Ecosystem Themes
The video also highlights progress being made on Investors for Purpose’s Ecosystem Themes and the official launch of the Place Lens topic. Investors for Purpose will continue building its cross-sector Community while maintaining strong engagement with pension funds and trustees. Future plans include expanding Ecosystem alliances with our members, and developing new research and policy work as the investment landscape continues to evolve.
